ARCHIVAL SOURCES OF THE 1920s ‒ 1930s ON THE HISTORY OF THE POLISH NATIONAL MINORITY OF THE UKRAINIAN SSR

The paper deals with the bulk of archival sources on the history of the Polish population of soviet Ukraine, from the 1920s to the 1930s. We have studied the materials in the Kyivan archives, namely the Central State Archives of the Highest Authorities and Administration of Ukraine, the Central State Archives of Public Associations of Ukraine, the Central State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art of Ukraine, the State Archives of the City of Kyiv and the Sectoral State Archives of the Security Service of Ukraine.We arrived at a conclusion that thanks to even fragmented documents on the history of the Poles in the Ukrainian Socialist Soviet Republic / Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in the interwar 20th century it is possible to study the fl uctuations of the then governmental policy towards this national minority, as well as to reproduce and present little-known prosopographic portraits of its leading socio-political and cultural-educational representatives. The materials help reconstruct the «Polish direction» dependence on the «policy» of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine directed by the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) in fl uctuations in the foreign aff airs conjuncture, especially under controversial Moscow – Warsaw inter-State relations.
