THE IMPACT OF POLISH MILITARY UNITS LOCALIZED IN EASTERN HALYCHYNA ON THE SECURITY OF ITS INHABITANS IN 1919–1921. SELECTED ISSUESS

The subject of this article is the infl uence of the rear units of the Polish Army concen- trated in Eastern Halychyna on the security of the region’s population in 1918–1921 (from the beginning of the struggle for Polish independence in November 1918 to the end of the Polish-Russian war in 1921). The topic has not yet received detailed research and is awaiting detailed elaboration. Under the defi nition of «Eastern Halychyna», the author understands the territory of Ternopil, Lviv, and Stanislaviv voivodeships, which in 1921–1939 belonged to Poland. It focuses in detail on the territory of Lviv, which was the capital of the region.The subject of the study is the situation of the civilian population in these territories and the infl uence of Polish troops concentrated here on the local community, as well as the co- operation of the population with public order services. The article examines selected issues of internal security of Eastern Halychyna in 1918–1921 concerning the civilian population and localized on the shoulder of the Polish Army front. Instead, the study does not address the issues of typical military activity.The internal policy of the Halychyna revolutionary committee – temporary revolutionary government Halychyna Socialist Soviet Republic (July – September 1920) was analyzed. The repression of representatives of the Bolshevik authorities against the Ukrainian and Polish intellectuals, fi gures of the West Ukrainian People’s Republic, government offi cials of the Polish Republic is shown.
