The article refutes the Soviet myth about participation of Nachtigall Battalion in murders of Polish intellectuals at the beginning of German-Soviet war. The author explains why and how this myth was created and main reasons of its creation. The article also proves that on the night of July 4–5, 1941, a special operative command of Nazi security services executed many prominent Polish scientists and cultural figures in the Vuletski Hills in Lviv.
